FISCAL SPONSORSHIP

Fiscal Sponsorship refers to the practice of non-profit organizations offering their legal and tax-exempt status to groups - typically projects - engaged in activities related to the sponsoring organization's mission.

Is A Fiscal Sponsorship Right For You?

Creating a Fiscal Sponsorship arrangement involves trust in those that take on your project. With an IPG fiscal sponsorship arrangement, we provide a way for a cause to attract donors even when it is not yet recognized as tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).  IPG serves as the administrative "home" of the cause in which charitable contributions are given to our nonprofit as a restricted gift solely for your project's purpose.  We never co-mingle funds with our projects, and we encourage you to create a strong brand and footprint in the communities that you serve.  We love being in the background supporting your project every step of the way!

While you contemplate if creating a 501c3 organization is right for you, a fiscal sponsorship arrangement is often used by newly formed nonprofits that need to raise money during the start-up phase or by those that are waiting to be recognized as tax-exempt by the IRS. Fiscal sponsorship is also used by projects that do not want to go through the burden of creating a nonprofit organization and stay with their fiscal sponsor on an on-going basis.

Using a fiscal sponsor like IPG enables a program or organization that is not tax-exempt to attract funding for its operations that is fully tax-deductible to donors. A fiscal sponsorship arrangement benefits organizations or programs by providing a flow-through pathway for tax deductible revenue that the organization may not otherwise be in a position to receive.
